Appearance:
General: Shana is about 5'6" tall with hair that reaches down to her ankles, Her Skin is a light tan. Shana is almost always in a Karakura town high school uniform and when she isn't in school she wears a coat that she treated with a special kido so she can keep her Zanpakuto hidden away. She wears an amulet around her neck that eats the excess reiatsu leaks off of her so she doesn't attract too much unwanted attention.
Normally: When she is out and about acting as if she was a human or is just not using her powers her hair is a beautiful satin black and her eyes are a milk chocolate brown. Her amulet is a black color and looks like it is containing a galaxy. Her face always shows her emotion atleast when she is at school
In Battle: Her hair turns a blood red color and her eyes become crimson in reaction to the release of her reiatsu. Her amulate starts to glow yellow as if a sun was formed in the galaxy within it. Her facial expression betrays as she focuses on her Opponent(s)

Personality: Shana is normally a calm individual but she can be quite the hot head and whenever someone embarrasses her she repeatedly tells them to shut up. She is more or less a lone wolf but will not hesitate to perform the responsibility that she is given. Her greatest pet peeve is guys who pick on girls because they think that all girls are too weak to defend themselves. She can be sarcastic and is quite intelligent. She loves melon bread and goes out of her way to get it all of the time though she normally waits until after her duties are done first though on occasion her cravings get the best of her.

Background/History:

Human Life

Shana was born to a noble samurai family where she was taught the finer arts such as weaving, cooking, massage, and Accupuncture though whenever her father was around he taught her the art of Kenjutsu so that she could help protect the house until her baby brother was big enough to hold and use a sword. From the first time she picked up the blade that her father had crafted for her she heard a strange voice calling out to her begging her to call out his name. One day when Shana was out in the garden meditating her brother came out to her for her to teach him the basics of Kenjutsu so that he could impress their father. Shana agreed but as she stood up her brother went flying through the air as she looked around for the culperate she saw a shimmering shadow of a creature. A strange voice rang out "Ha so you can see me that means that it was you that I have been craving." Shana was then lifted up by the creature but her body just collapsed as the creature ripped her sould from it shattering the chain that linked them as he he started to torture her with his claws piercing her body with its talons slowly torturing her making her scream in agony as she could only wish that the beast would finish having fun with her and finish her off already.

As the creature impaled Shana's small frame for atleast the tenth time the creature screamed out in pain stumbling backwards as the arm that was attached to the talons stayed behind and black blood sprayed everywhere mixing in with Shana's blood as a beautiful young woman slashed the monster once more splitting it from head to foot causing it to dissolve. The arm was still sticking out of Shana as the beast started to dissolve its particles being scattered to the winds except those that were to the arm they disappeared inside of shana's body. The woman then walked over to where Shana was lying her breath ragged with pain and the strain that being seperated from her body had placed on her spirit. The woman chanted something as Shana just passed out.

In The Rukongai

When Shana awoke she was in a house with the young woman watching over her. The woman explained that the nice couple who had lost their lives not too long prior orphaning a young child that was around Shana's age in the process. The young woman appologised for the poor conditions that they must live in and will see about getting them moved to a better distract than east 78. The first couple of months though they were in what would have been considered the slummiest of the slums back in the living world Shana was happy actually happy though now with the voice that called out to her their was a ghastly echo in the background. One night Shana was having a nightmare as the voice called out to her asking for her help. When Shana woke up the next day she was under a pile of ash and her home and new parents were nowhere to be found. Shana looked all over stealing what she needed to survive and over the years of fighting, stealing and eating the bare essentials to her diet the people just thought her to be a demon and for good reason because she definately looked like one.

One day about 10 years after the burning of her home she saw an old woman who just bought a large bag of food from one of the clerks but instead of walking away she walked towards Shana who took a step back for every step closer the woman took a feral look crossed Shana's eyes as her eyes and hair turned red from the uncontrolled release of her reiatsu. The normally packed streets just cleared all except for that one woman who reached into her bag and pulled out a loaf of Melon bread that she had bought from the market. The sweet aroma of the bread enticed Shana causing her normal colors to return to both her hair and eyes as she approached the bread collapsing after the first step out of sheer exhaustion. The woman put the bread back into the bag going over towards Shana picking her up and putting her over her shoulders and brought her back to her home in the 3rd district of East Rukon. When Shana woke up again she was in the ladies home laying on a bed mat next to a cooking fire with a kettle on it. The woman walked in and saw Shana sitting upright the woman smiled at her and poured Shana a glass of herbal tea serving it to her with a smile on her face. After Shana had eaten a loaf of fresh made melon bread and had time to orientate herself the woman explained how she used to be a shinigami and after a battle with a particular tricky one she has been unable to lift up her zanpakuto since not to strike down another hollow not even to defend herself. The lady then continued to explain that Shana how the woman that saved her life was her lieutenant and how she felt that Shana would make a brilliant shinigami.

Shinigami Academy

The lady started to teach Shana Kido, Hakuda, Hoho, and Helped her improve her skills in Kenjutsu though now that she was going to be a soul reaper it is renamed Zanjutsu. Shana had quite a nack for Kido and hoho that is after she was able to control her spirit energy that is. When the new year at the Shinigami Academy Shana felt that she was ready for it and when she took the placement exam she not only finished with a record shattering perfect score on all parts she did so in record time. Her score not only placed her at the top of the advanced class but also allowed her to opt out of the classes. Inf act her aptitude in almost everything made it so that the teachers actually wanted her not to go to most of the classes for fear of her discouraging the other students.

A month after entering the academy she found her zanpakuto. By the time that the first left for the human world for some konso and hollow slaying practice. The hollow slaying practice got a little out of hand when the massive concentration of Reiatsu attracted thirty some odd Hollows to the training grounds. Shana stayed behind with the instructors to help cover the escape of the other students though it was against the orders of the instructors.

Shana was awarded for helping the instructors with an instant graduation as well as a position in the Kido corp. But she was also punished for her act of insubordination she had to spend what would have been the rest of her academy year cleaning out the prison cells as well as the barracks on each and every day until the floor was clean enough to eat off of.

Rising Through the Ranks of the Thirteen Court Guards

Shana was assigned to as low a seat as she could get in the kido corp though as soon as her punishment was over she was finally available for a promotion. During this time the capitain of squad 10 the same woman who saved Shana from the hollow was still looking for someone to have as her lieutenant. Shana's excellence in Kido earned her the fourth seat of the kido corp. One day their was a disturbance in the human world and the kido corp decided to send Shana along with the investigation squad which consisted of the squad 10 captain as well as her third seat and a member of squad 4. While in the human world they searched for any sign of a disturbance but they were unable to find anything at first as they were gonna write off the disturbance off as a malfunction amongst the sensors though as they were about to head back to the seireitei they found something. One glance at it and they were confused because it looked almost like a shinigami though the lower half of its jaw was that of a Hollows mask.

The capitain opened up her mouth to ask a question but before the words came out The being moved at a speed that rivaled a Shunpo and Shana got between the being and the capitain who was in the process of drawing her sword still. Shana called her Zanpakuto's name releasing it into its shikai as with her off hand she fired Soren Soukatsui without an incantation as her sword became engulfed in flames. The capitain commented on how she thinks that they found what the disturbance was. The capitan then instructed the Squad four shinigami to call in for a limit release as well as some back up. Shana, The capitan and Squad 10's third seat fought against the being waiting for back up to arrive. The minute it did the being upened up a a portal behind it disappearing back wherever it came.

When Shana and the others returned to the Seireitei and had the full checkup the Captain announced that she finally chose her lieutenant and to Shana's surprise it was her. Not one week after Shana reported to squad ten and picked up her badge did the Captain start her Bankai training using something she designed for squad 12 to create for her. The tool is a specific fake hollow that requires a greater power than the one using it as a training subject shikai. The beast will fight with extreme speeds its attacks are designed to kill. The Captian showed Shana how to shut down the Hollow but after that she disappeared to watch in the shadows not letting her know that she was their ready to step in just before Shana would get killed. Infact before she left she made it simple on Shana and told her that should she fail in achieving in bankai she will die.

After about a week of constant non-stop training she finally was able to put knock Alastor into submission and with that she was able to achieve Bankai though she barely had enough time to launch the attack that not only shut down the fake hollow but destroyed it in its entirety. After another couple of days of sleeping Shana woke up and the captain was standing over her with her sword drawn. "It is now time for the real training to begin" the captain exclaimed as she stepped back waiting for Shana to get up. After words the captain relentlessly attacked Shana forcing her into her bankai. After Shana went into her bankai the captain smiled and explained that she is going to help her master her bankai. After about 20 years of training whenever they weren't on assignment or doing their paperwork Shana finally was able to fully master her bankai.

From Captain to Hollowfication

About five years after Shana mastered her bankai her capitain was promoted to squad zero. She grudgingly excepted the new post on the condition that Shana was her replacement. While she was the captain of the tenth squad Shana had a relatively easy time mostly doing routine hollow extermination and konso trips as well as more paperwork than she really wanted. Shana started to hear a new voice in her zanpakuto's world one that she did was unable to recognize but Shana thought nothing of it until one day when her and about a half a dozen other Shinigami went to the human world to investigate another disturbance. When they got their Shana recognized the disturbance immediately and had one of the others call to have her limit removed. This time the being wasn't holding back as he attacked and the release of the being strange reiatsu affected Shana causing her to black out for a few seconds though when she woke up all of the shinigami were decimated and the beings head was in her hands. Shana was not sure what had happened as she made it back to her barracks and started to fill out the paper work.

Shana's old captain came walking into Shana's office and went to explain what she knew about what happened and why it happened. Shana's old captain explained how when Shana was saved from that hollow all those years ago her body absorbed some of that hollow's essence and that it was feeding off of Shana's reiatsu building up its strength and now it might take control over Shana at any instance. Though according to the captain there was away for Shana to prevent that from happening. That way was to beat her inner hollow while her body goes through the process of hollowfication allowing her to become even more powerful while remainng in control of herself.

Her ex-captain promised her that she would be able to buy her no more than about four hours even with the enhancer that the members of squad zero are given so that they will have enough power to protect the royal family from any and all people who try and attack them even though there are so few members. Shana agreed and they went to a secret training area that is used during enhancer training. The room was huge and took on the apearance of a wasteland. Shana's captain flipped a switch and a giant barrier errupted around the training area. Shana's captain did not hesitate to go into her bankai as Shana tried to access that surge of power that caused her to black out earlier. Shana tapped into it but this time she did not black out entirely infact she just felt like she was not in control of her body as if she was watching a movie. Shana used this time to focus and bring herself to the realm of her zanpakuto to see if she can find Alastor to help her with the inner hollow. But once she got their all she found was her inner hollow.

The inner hollow had a proposition for her if she could beat him in a fight then he would submit and allow her to have access to his powers. Shana and the hollow fought for what could have been weeks in the real world. In the end Shana had came out victorious and about a 5 hours went on in the real world. Shana's Old capitain then gave her the amulet that "eats" Her reiatsu allowing her to remain within the court guards as long as no one within the gotei thirteen witnesses her using her mask that is.

Vizard

Shana then spent the next few hundred years being very careful to not use her mask even if it would cost her her life. One day Shana went in response to another disturbance it was another one of those beings from before but this one was different more powerful. Shana responded to this one alone she fought the creature on her own and in the battle between his ressureccion and her bankai without the limiter they were dead even when she put on her mask she instantly overpowered him knocking him down with her sword to his neck she struck a deal with him he will get to keep his life if he starts a rumor that he killed her.

Since then Shana has been living with the other vizards and for the past 3 years has been attending schools as to not raise too many questions about how young she looks as well as to build up some form of a cover for herself.
